Owerri high court orders independent National Electoral Commission INEC, not to issue certificate of return to Governor Rochas Okorocha.

A high court sitting in Owerri the capital city of Imo state, presided Justice E.F Njemanze has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC not to issue certificate of return to the former governor of the state Rochas Okorocha as a senator representing his LGA.

This is coming days after a group of angry protesters compass INEC headquarters issuing a 5-day ultimatum to release Okorocha’s certificate of return.

According to reports, the order was due to a lawsuit filed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for Imo West Hon Jones Onyeriri against the INEC, ordered that the status quo be maintained until the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

The court has adjourned the case till June 5 2019, for hearing.
