• Holds American International College In Female Friendly Match
After holding the American International School, Abuja girls to a goalless draw in a friendly match on Monday, one of the emerging bright lights in the Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) schools sports, Hendon College will this afternoon feature in the boys and girls invitational relays at the Loyola College inter-house competition.

Hendon College has gradually become one of the new leaders in school sports in the FCT, with the boys and girls teams the toast of other schools, which frequently invite them to compete in their inter-house sports events.

Led by its Director of Sports, Theodore Chukwuemeka, the school’s girls’ football team was on Monday guests of American International School, who forced them to a goalless draw in their friendly game.

The inter-school football match, which featured goalkeeper Arafat Jiya, Sharon Iho, Marvelous, Esther, Stepheney and Jacinta, as well as Precious, Kehinde and Habiba, was one of the events lined up to keep the team in top shape ahead of future inter-school competitions within Abuja and across the country.

Speaking on the recent developments in Hendon College’s sports, the school’s Sports Director, Theodore Chukwu said the management of the college was mindful of the benefits of sports to the over all development of the child hence it has paid more premium to developing the talents of the students.

Also speaking on the emergence of Hendon College as a force in the FCT schools sports, its Principal, Kenneth Nnamani, said the school has mapped out a sports development plan that would see its talented students competing against their peers from other schools from time to time.

“That way, we will gauge their level of development and discover areas we need to work on,” Nnamani, who incidentally was the principal of Loyola College before moving to Hendon, said.

He disclosed that the school had developed a programme that would make it a big force in sports within and outside the FCT.

Today’s relays at Loyola College will start by 4.00 p.m.
