INSECURITY: Nigerians Must Carry Their Identity Card At All Times – Nigeria n Army

Due to recent security challenges faced by Nigeria, The Nigerian Army has charged Nigerian citizens to always carry their means of identification (ID) with them at all times.

According to the Nigerian Army, this policy was introduced as a means of easy identification of Nigerian citizens as the force set to launch “Operation Positive Identification”.

Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) disclosed that this new military exercise is set to expose immigrant with questionable identities, especially insurgents who are on the run of being caught and prosecuted by the Nigerian Army.

According to Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai, Operation Positive Identification will stop fleeing insurgents from penetrating cris-free zones.

The COAS made the disclosure at the launch of routine military exercises, Crocodile Smile IV, Egwu Eke IV and Ayem Akpatuma II, saying the ongoing Operation Positive Identification in the North-East will soon be extended to all the parts of the country.

The Chief of Army Staff also said the operation wll limit the migration of bandits, ethnic militia, kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminals to other peaceful zones.

Major-General E.O Udoh who is the Chief of Training and Operations in the Nigerian Army represented the Chief of Army Staff, and he emphasized that the military exercises were “necessary owing to the myriad of emergent threats that are burgeoning across the geo-political zones
