
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has won his Epe Local Government Area for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Jide Sanwo-Olu, in the Saturday’s elections, with Sanwo-Olu in a landslide win in 11 Local Governments.
Concise News reports that Babatunde Adeoye, the Collation Officer in the Local Government (Epe), says the APC scored 35, 609 votes to defeat its closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party, which polled 6, 464.
Presenting the result at the state collation centre situated at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Yaba, Adeoye says the results in Polling Unit 7 of Ward 9, were cancelled due to over-voting.
According to him, the council has registered voters of 138,977, accredited voters of 43,303, with a total valid vote of 42,562 and votes rejected of 684, thereby leaving a total vote cast at 43,246.
NAN reports that Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Ikeja, Ikorodu amongst other Local Government Areas have also presented their results with APC leading in all.
Generally, Sanwo-Olu is coasting home to victory in a landslide win in 11 Local Governments announced by INEC so far.
In all the 11 Local Governments, Sanwo-Olu is defeating the PDP’s candidate, Jimi Agbaje by a wide margin.
In Lagos Mainland, Sanwo-Olu polled 27,333 votes to beat Agbaje, who scored 7, 265 votes; while in Lagos Island, Sanwo-Olu won by polling 31,991 while Agbaje got 4,346 votes.
In Ikeja Local Government, the APC candidate won massively, scoring 28,592 votes as against 8,109 votes polled by the PDP’s candidate.
In Ikorodu, Sanwo-Olu emerges clear winner with 45,879 votes, while Agbaje scored 14,769; in Amuwo Odofin, a stronghold of the PDP, Sanwo-Olu won by polling 23,267, while Agbaje got 13,700 votes.
In Ibeju Lekki LG, another stronghold of PDP, Sanwo-Olu won massively, polling 23,298 votes as against 3,320 votes scored by Agbaje. In Agege LG, the APC candidate cruised home, scoring 38,515 votes and Agbaje, scoring 8,371 votes.
In Apapa LG, Sanwo-Olu polled 20,469 votes to defeat Agbaje, who got 5,959 votes. In Somolu LG, Sanwo-Olu had it easy, as he polled 40,408 votes to beat Agbaje, who garnered 9,991 votes.
In Eti-Osa LG, Sanwo-Olu garnered massive 30,504 votes to defeat Agbaje, who got 10,678 votes.
The collation exercise, which started at exactly 10.15a.m is still ongoing as at the time of publishing this report. There are still 9 more local governments to go.
