Most people think that scholarships are only given to students who have financial need. This just isn’t true! There are plenty of opportunities out there for students who aren’t struggling with money, but want to fund their education in other ways. Here are four programs that offer scholarships for students without financial need:

National Merit Scholarship

You may be eligible if you are a high-achieving student with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and an ACT score of 29 or higher, or a top 10% class rank (based on GPAs). You could also qualify if you had an ACT score between 26 and 28 and graduated from high school within the last three years.

Intel Science Talent Search

Intel Science Talent Search is a nationwide program for high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in the sciences. The award winners receive $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place and $500 for third place. Students are also eligible to win up to $2,000 in scholarships from participating sponsors.

Scholarships are awarded based on academics as well as leadership and community service. Students must be nominated by their school but can apply online at http://www.intelchallengeusa.org/scholarshipapp/begin_application?siteId=intelsciencescholarship&langId=en-us

National Achievement Scholarship Program

The National Achievement Scholarship Program is awarded to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college or university and meet other eligibility requirements. It recognizes students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and an SAT score of 1200 (combined Math/Verbal) or an ACT composite score of 27. Students must also be U.S citizens and demonstrate financial need, community service activities, work experience, leadership skills, extracurricular activities and other non-academic achievements.

The scholarship was founded in 1964 by the Lions Club International Foundation for Merit Scholarships Inc., which has raised over $2 billion for these scholarships since its inception. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit; however candidates from underrepresented groups may receive additional consideration if they meet certain criteria outlined by their specific award guidelines (for example: Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards).

Coca-Cola Scholars Program

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program is for high school juniors and seniors who are in the top 1% of their class, or are in the top 20%, based on how well they do in school. The scholarship includes a trip to Atlanta for two days of workshops, mentoring from other students who have gone through the program, and funding for college if you’re eligible. You must be able to prove that you’re a well-rounded student in order to apply for this scholarship.

Contrary to popular belief, there are scholarships for students without financial need.

There are also scholarships for students with financial need, and those with special needs. There are scholarships for students who have specific interests or talents; some may even be given based on a student’s background or characteristics. Some of these scholarships can be applied for online; others require additional paperwork and materials (such as letters of recommendation) to complete the application process.

Scholarships can provide funding for college costs like tuition and room & board; however, some may not cover all expenses—especially if you live away from home while attending school—so it’s important to do research before applying so that you know exactly what each scholarship requires in terms of qualifications and eligibility criteria!
