The University welcomes applications for the Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship from international students who are new to studying at the University of Waikato, and who will be coming to study here for face-to-face study in 2023.
Students who study online with the University are not eligible to apply for the Vice-Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship, with the exception of students who choose to study at the Waikato China Learning Centre (CLC) at Hainan University.

Eligibility
This Scholarship is intended to support talented international students who are enrolling for the first time into undergraduate or postgraduate programmes at the University of Waikato. The Scholarships have a value of up to NZD$15,000, and will be awarded to successful applicants who demonstrate excellent academic achievement.
How to Apply
If you are new to the University of Waikato you will need to:
- Complete an Application to Enrol BEFORE you can have access to apply for Scholarships and Awards (This application is not a commitment to study here at the University of Waikato and can be withdrawn or updated at any time).
If you are a current student or already have a Waikato account you will be redirected to the MyWaikato screen:
- Create an account and Log in to MyWaikato
- Click on the ‘Scholarships’ tab and select the scholarship you wish to apply for from the list of scholarships at the bottom of the page.
Once you are ready, click on the ‘Apply Now’ button below and continue with your application/s.
